Getting Caught in the Rainstorm…

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Matthew 7:24-27 NKJV

As of late, it feels as if we’ve been caught in the middle of a rainstorm that none of us saw coming. But can I encourage you for a second? The beautiful observation that I made from this passage was that it never mentioned the wise man building his house with the rain in mind; however, when the rain came, he was ready.

Have you ever been caught in a rainstorm with no jacket or umbrella?? I have. Now, have you ever been caught in the rain with your jacket on and umbrella in hand? The rain could have delayed its coming all day; but, when it finally came, you were ready. It didn’t catch you off guard or ruin your day.

Same with the wise man. The storms that have come lately up may or may not have caught us off-guard, but if you’re still standing in this moment, you were probably ready for it and didn’t even realize. So now think about the foundation that’s holding you up. All these years you’ve spent walking with the Lord. Praying. Reading. Seeking. It hasn’t been in vain. God’s been teaching and building you up [and me]. And the storm has come, yet here we are. Still standing. Just like gold refined by fire, so are our houses that have been built on the Rock- tried and proven to sustain.

And you know what else? If you see that your fellow brother or sister in Christ is falling, please, offer them shelter. Galatians 6:2 tells us to “carry one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

Or maybe you yourself feel shaken? It’s also okay to reach out to your father/ mother /big brother or sister in Christ- someone you know is strong in the faith. Proverbs tells us that were there are many counselors, there is safety.

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

To wrap up this sermon, lol, please hang in there. Your foundation is stronger than you know. Keep building yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit (Jude 1:20). He’ll never leave us nor forsake us. We’re all in this rainstorm together and we will get though it in Jesus’ name.

Be blessed. Be well. Be prosperous.

I love you and am praying for you always,

The Praying Millennial. 🌞♥️
